ABOUT THE BLOG

The OiNK Blog is named after my very favourite comic of all time. My first ever comic in fact. When I began collecting it again decades later it ignited something inside me and I found myself hunting down others I’d grown up with (plus some I’d missed out on) and I was struck by how well most of them stood up to the test of time, and this reader’s age! I rarely binge on entertainment, I like to take my time and savour it, so after a suggestion by cartoonist Lew Stringer I decided these comics would be read in real time and that’s when the idea of the blog came about.

Real-time blogging? Unlike other websites which might take one overall look at a classic comic series, on the OiNK Blog each and every issue receives its own full review on the date of its original release. Some of these titles have been forgotten in the years since, meaning very little has been written about them. I hope to change that. With comprehensive reviews, highlights from each issue, insider knowledge from those that created them, as well as my own personal memories and additional posts including interviews and more, I hope you’ll find plenty to read and enjoy.

ABOUT ME

My name is Phil Boyce and I live in Belfast, Ireland. In my mid-40s I’ve decided to attempt fulfilling a lifelong dream of becoming a writer. I began working on this by setting up this blog in 2021 and now it’s leading to other exciting opportunities. When I’m not attempting to recapture my youth via these comics I’m playing my Nintendo Switch, watching Knight Rider (that’s more recapturing, isn’t it?) and Doctor Who, cat-sitting, cooking, swimming, being engrossed by Ancient Egypt or creating pub quizzes. Oh, and I’m always counting down to Christmas.

You can follow the blog on Facebook and Instagram, or via my personal accounts on Instagram, Bluesky and Pixelfed.
