ABOUT THE BLOG

The OiNK Blog is named after my very favourite comic of all time. My first ever comic in fact. When I began collecting it all over again decades later it reignited something inside me and I found myself hunting down other comics I’d grown up with (plus some I’d missed out on) and I was struck by how well most stood up to the test of time, and this reader’s age! I rarely binge on entertainment, I like to take my time and savour things, so after a suggestion by cartoonist Lew Stringer I decided these comics would be read in real time and that’s when the idea of the blog came about.

Real-time blogging? Unlike other websites which might take one overall look at a classic comic, on the OiNK Blog every issue receives its own full review on the date of its original release. Some of these comics have been forgotten in the years since, with very little written about them. I hope to change that. With comprehensive reviews, highlights from each issue, insider knowledge, as well as my own personal memories and extras such as interviews, behind-the-scenes access and much more, I hope you’ll find plenty to read and enjoy.

ABOUT ME

My name is Phil Boyce and I live in Belfast, Ireland with my cat, Smudge. In my late-40s I’m attempting to fulfil a lifelong dream of becoming a writer full-time. I began by setting up this blog in 2021 and now it’s leading to other exciting opportunities. When I’m not attempting to recapture my youth via these comics I’m playing my Nintendo Switch and GameBoy, watching Knight Rider (that’s more recapturing, isn’t it?) and Doctor Who, cat napping, cooking, baking… oh, and building a Dalek. I’m also always counting down to Christmas.

You can follow the blog on Facebook and Instagram, or via my personal accounts on Instagram and Bluesky.
